I keep only a few projects open at once so each book gets real attention. If my schedule is full, I'll tell you straight away and offer the next date I can honestly commit to.
Before you write
Questions I'm usually asked
What should I include in a first message?
Genre, approximate word count, what stage the book is at, and your hoped-for release date. If you already know which service you want, say so — if not, describe the problem and I'll suggest something.
Do you read every genre?
Fiction is where I'm most useful: literary, romance, fantasy, mystery, speculative. I'll read outside that gladly, but I'll tell you honestly if I don't think I'm your ideal reader.
How far ahead should I book?
Four to eight weeks is comfortable for a cover; two to four for a read. Rush slots exist but they're limited, so earlier is always better.
Will you sign an NDA?
Yes, happily, before receiving any files. Manuscripts are confidential by default and deleted on request when a project closes.
